Congratulations 🎉 to Md. Rajbanul Akhond 🎉 for an excellent qualifying exam! Third year Ph.D students at IU Chemistry go through a qualifying exam which IMO is harder than the Ph.D Defense: they give a one hour seminar, followed by 1.5-2hrs of closed door questions from their advisor and 3 other professors. Though I was probably as nervous as he was, I had no doubt he'd do an amazing job and couldn't be prouder.
His presentation was on multiple topics, including correlated electron materials with spins on molecular orbitals in a solid ( https://arxiv.org/abs/2601.04460 )
