Md Rajbanul Akhond (Akhond) was awarded two important prizes! The first, by the department, is the Ernest Campagne C500 award. This is given to a single graduate student per year (his class has over 50 students!) for the best first-year write up. Much of his work is documented here: https://arxiv.org/abs/2601.04460
Separately, he won the John & Wendy Kindig Fellowship given by the College! This fellowship helps provide support for him during his 3rd year as a Ph.D student. It also acknowledges him as one of the top students in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biology. You can find more of his work both at IU and before here: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=DU9b1PcAAAAJ&hl=en&inst=13098912254855678857
He is the second student in our group in a row (last year, Varsha Kumari won it) to be awarded this fellowship. Due to her NSF GRFP making her ineligible, Madison will break the streak :).
Congratulations Akhond!
